HausFlow Family — Children's Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 30, 2026 Last Updated: May 30, 2026

Scope of This Notice

This Children's Privacy Policy applies specifically to child users of HausFlow Family — meaning any user who joins a household as a "member" (kid) role.

HausFlow Family is a household coordination app designed for families that include children. Because children under 13 may use the Service, we comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), 15 U.S.C. §§ 6501–6506, and the FTC's COPPA Rule.

This notice supplements our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. Where there is a conflict, this notice controls with respect to child user data.

Who Is a "Child User"?

A child user is any person who joins a HausFlow Family household with the "kid" role via a parent's invite code. A child user does not create an independent account — they operate as a sub-user within the household created and controlled by the parent or guardian.

HausFlow Family is designed so that parental consent is embedded in the invitation flow:

  • A parent or guardian creates the household account and controls the invite system
  • The parent generates an HF-XXXX invite code and shares it directly with the child
  • The child joins only through that parent-controlled code
  • By sharing the invite code with a child, the parent consents to the child's use of the Service and to our collection of the child's information as described below

This model places the parent in control of who enters the household. We do not have a separate consent form step because the parent initiates and controls the onboarding path.

Age of the Home Leader

The Home Leader (parent/guardian) who creates the household account must be at least 18 years old. By creating an account and inviting a child, the Home Leader represents that they are a parent or legal guardian of the child user and consents to the child's participation in the Service.

Parental Rights

As the parent or legal guardian of a child user, you have the following rights with respect to your child's information:

Right to Review

You may review any information we have collected from your child by opening the app and navigating to your child's activity — their assigned chores, completion history, proof photos, Handled It™ entries, and points balance are all visible to you at any time.

Right to Deletion

You may delete your child's data at any time by:

  • Removing the child from the household: Settings → [Member name] → Remove — this clears the child's household membership and schedules their data for deletion
  • Deleting the household account: Settings → Account → Privacy → Delete Account — this deletes all household data including all child records
  • Contacting us directly: Email legal@mavarosystems.com and we will delete the child's record within a reasonable time

Right to Refuse Further Collection

You may stop further collection of your child's information at any time by removing the child from the household or deleting the household account.

Right to Correction

If you believe your child's data is inaccurate, you may correct it directly in the app (child's display name and avatar) or contact us at legal@mavarosystems.com.

How to Exercise These Rights

Contact us at legal@mavarosystems.com with your request. We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity as the account holder before processing your request.

Data Retention for Children

Children's data is retained as long as the child is a member of an active household.

Children's data is deleted when:

  • the parent removes the child from the household
  • the household account is deleted
  • we receive a deletion request from the parent at legal@mavarosystems.com

We do not retain children's data after a deletion event except where required by law (e.g., limited financial or legal records).

Push Notifications to Children

HausFlow Family may send push notifications to child users to:

  • notify them of a new chore assignment from a parent
  • remind them of an upcoming routine block closing (30-minute warning)

Parents control notification settings per household member. Quiet hours can be configured by the parent in Settings → Household → Quiet hours to prevent notifications during sleep or school hours.

Children do not have independent notification configuration — all notification settings are managed by the parent.

Security Measures for Children's Data

We apply the same security standards to children's data as to all user data:

  • all data transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS)
  • secure session management via Clerk
  • proof photos stored in access-controlled cloud storage
  • internal access to children's data is limited to what is necessary to operate the Service
  • we do not allow children's data to be accessed by other households

No Behavioral Advertising to Children

We do not engage in behavioral advertising directed at children.

We do not use children's in-app activity to serve targeted ads, build advertising profiles, or share data with advertising networks.

Contact for COPPA Inquiries

If you are a parent or guardian with questions about your child's data, wish to exercise any of the rights above, or have concerns about our children's privacy practices, contact us at:
