Troubleshooting & Recovery
This guide covers two categories of problems: app issues and household recovery.
App Issues
Login problems
- Log out and back in.
- Make sure you are using the correct sign-in method — email/password, Google, or Apple.
- Update the app to the latest version.
- If access still fails, contact support at
info@mavarosystems.com.
Data looks out of sync
HausFlow Family uses real-time sync via Convex. Updates should appear on all devices within seconds. If something looks stale:
- Close and reopen the app.
- Check your internet connection.
- Wait a few seconds and pull to refresh if the screen supports it.
- If the mismatch persists, contact support.
Kid can't join the family
- Make sure the kid is entering the code exactly as shown —
HF-XXXXformat. The code entry field auto-inserts the dash, so typingHFABCDwill display asHF-ABCD. - Confirm the invite code is from the current family — it's visible in the parent's Family tab.
- If the code was recently refreshed, the old code will no longer work. Share the new code from the Family tab.
- If the kid scanned a QR code, make sure camera permission is allowed on their device.
Notifications are missing
In HausFlow Family, kids receive a push notification the moment a parent assigns them a chore. If notifications are not arriving, check in this order:
- Device permissions — the kid's device must have notifications allowed for HausFlow. Check in the device Settings → Notifications → HausFlow.
- App opened at least once — the kid's device registers for push notifications on the first app launch. If they have never opened the app after installing it, no notifications can arrive yet.
- Kid notification settings — inside the app, go to Settings → Notifications and confirm notifications are enabled.
- Quiet hours — parent Settings → Household → Quiet hours controls a time window where notifications pause. Check that the current time is outside that window.
- App in the foreground — some devices suppress push notifications while the app is visible. Switch to another app and retry.
If none of the above resolves it, contact info@mavarosystems.com.
Chore disappeared from the kid's list
- If the chore was sent back by the parent, it still appears in the kid's task list under a "Sent back" status, with the parent's return note.
- If the chore was approved, it moves to the Completed section.
- If the parent archived it, it will no longer appear.
- If the kid claimed a Family Board™ task and then it disappeared, the task may have been removed by the parent from the board before the claim was processed.
Kid submitted by mistake
If the kid marked a chore done but forgot to add a note or proof photo, they can use the "↩ Oops, take it back" option on the task screen. This pulls the submission back to in-progress so they can update it — as long as the parent hasn't approved it yet.
Photo proof isn't uploading
- Check that the kid's device has storage permission for HausFlow.
- Make sure the device has a working internet connection at the time of submission.
- If the upload fails, the kid can retake the photo and try submitting again.
Parent Mode PIN — kid can't switch
If a parent has set a 4-digit PIN, kids must enter it correctly to switch to the parent shell. If the PIN was forgotten:
- A parent can clear the PIN from Settings → Account → Parent mode PIN → Remove PIN.
- If neither parent remembers the PIN and both are locked out of the parent shell, contact support.
Household Recovery
Fell off for a few days
That is a reset, not a failure.
Start with:
- One chore assigned — don't restart with ten.
- One routine, not all of them.
- A short check-in with the kid after the first restart.
The system works better as a light structure than a strict schedule.
System feels too heavy
Make it smaller.
Reduce:
- the number of active chores (aim for 2–3 per kid to start)
- the number of active routines
- the frequency of notifications — adjust in Settings → Notifications
- the proof requirements — not every chore needs a photo
More pressure is usually not the fix.
Tone feels wrong
Check the notification settings and the return notes being used.
HausFlow Family should feel warm, calm, and supportive. If it is creating defensiveness instead of clarity:
- review the notes on chores — are they specific enough to act on?
- review return notes — are they explaining what to fix, or just saying it was wrong?
- reduce the number of chores that require proof
See No-Shame Philosophy for the design standard.
When HausFlow Is Not Enough
HausFlow Family is a coordination tool. It is not a substitute for mental health care, crisis support, family counseling, or any regulated professional service.
If the issue is outside normal product use, seek qualified support.
